Review on πŸ”§ Knipex 09 02 240 SBA 9.5-Inch Lineman's Pliers with Ultra-High Leverage by Jonathan Olson

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Cobras are good, but linear manipulators are good.

I'm an electrician working in commercial and industrial applications. I was looking for a more upscale linemen set when my little ones gave up the job. I've heard a lot of good things about Knipex and I love cobras so why not? These linear manipulators work right out of the box, don't break, cut very well and the knurling on the tip is quite aggressive. I was able to cut the MC 12-3 steel cable more easily than my previous Kleins. And what about durability? dim. It's been almost exactly a year since I bought this instrument and I need another set. This is because the knives have rolled and chipped over time and are having a hard time cutting regular 12-2 MC. To clarify, I have not abused this tool. I used it for what it was designed for. Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't use this tool to cut screws, nails, and other hard materials if I expect them to last a long time. They don't do a good job of canal recovery either, my pair have developed grooves in the head over time. For the price, I recommend looking elsewhere. My standard navy blue Kleins handles that I had before didn't even turn the knives before they were stolen and didn't last a year for my work. Very disappointing. I love Cobras but will be returning to Klein for my next linemen.
