When I first bought it, I had questions that were only answered after the installation. No matter you buy in 1 pack or 2 packs, you don't need to install 2 switches in the same 3-way circuit, these WiFi switches work with regular 3-way and 4-way switches in the same chains, it just will a wireless switch is required for each chain. Wiring: Read about 3 and 4 circuits to understand what 2-way wires are, a load/line wire, and how to place 4 position switches in the middle of a circuit. 3-band WiFi can be installed anywhere in a 3-band chain and at both ends of a 4-band chain (but not in the middle). However, if you install a switch on the load side (the side where the wire goes directly to the light), the Wi-Fi switch knows when it's on and when it's off, and the Kasa app will tell you if it is on. on or off. If you install from the line side (the side where the black screw is always hot), the Wi-Fi switch works fine, but the Kasa app doesn't know when the light is on or off, the switch indicator in the App knows how to stick with it. about 4 seconds and then turns off regardless of whether it is off or on. So it will work fine on either end, but I will always install on the load side so I know the state of the light just by looking at the application. (Important if you are far away). Setup is easy, no fuss. The operation is exactly the same as that of conventional switches. If you have the light installed on the load side and you turn the light on or off using the normal switches in the system, the app will show you how it turns on and off so you always know what state the light is in is on or off. Great switch at a good price.
