Additional cost item that collects "things "

It is an exaggeration that they need to be purchased separately, but they are important compared to a fan without them. To test if it really matters, I attached a Noctua NF-P12 Redux 1700 fan to the back of my case (Phantek's Eclipse P600S) without those corner brackets and ran the fan at full blast. I then installed anti-vibration pads on the fan and ran the test again. There was a slight reduction in noise, which is believed to be due to the fan's plastic frame not vibrating against the steel case. This was a short test, however this configuration is not suitable for this reduction fan. I actually installed an additional fan on a Noctua NH-U12S CPU cooler as a "push" fan where the anti-vibration pads play a more important role in keeping my system quiet. The fans are attached to this heatsink with metal clips that will vibrate/rattle if the heatsink attached fans do not have anti-vibration pads. That's what I paid attention to when I first installed the fan on the radiator. I was so tired I put those ugly brown spacers on the corner of the fan for a week until I couldn't take them anymore and ordered the blue version of the brackets as Noctua doesn't have gray corners and my LEDs are blue, it's a nice addition. However, be aware that the corners tend to attract and collect "things" such as dust, dust, lint, dust, tiny hairs, etc. If this happens, just wet your finger, swipe quickly, and you're done. This is the most effective method and prevents things from piling up, at least until the corners are completely dry. By this point you should have a fan installed.
