I’ve rated this flag and pole kit at 2 stars for the flag itself, which is bright and easily visible – and because the pole feels sturdy. Though let me be clear, the flag is very thin and I don’t expect it to last very long. (But it looks nice from the street.) Beyond that, I wouldn’t recommend this product to anybody looking for a permanent American flag solution. To begin with, the plastic collars which wrap around the pole are too large and too snug, which doesn’t allow the flag to freely move . thus, causing it to wrap around the pole.Then there’s the aluminum clips which connect the brass rings on the flag. There were none included in with the kit. Instead, I used keyrings. To prevent the flag’s wrapping around itself (due to the snug plastic collars), I inserted rubber washers (about 3/16" thick) to the collar’s opening, which allowed the collars to easily spin on the pole.Finally, there is a slotted section to hold the top collar in place, but not on the bottom collar. Therefore, the bottom of the flag quickly scoots up the pole, grossly distorting its shape. That was easily fixed by adding a snug, clear washer on the pole, preventing the bottom collar to move up the pole.These modifications worked very well. The first two days I’ve flown the flag have been on very windy days and it flew without wrapping and looked very majestic.Although the bracket is plastic, it appears to be solid enough to withstand the elements.In conclusion, I’m satisfied with the aluminum flag pole and see no reason why it won’t perform well for many years. I’ll probably replace the flag with a nicer one within the next few months. The low cost of this flag/pole kit makes it appealing, especially for someone like me who has never bought a flag before. But this is definitely one of those items that ‘you get what you pay for.’
