Warning about water in Safety & Security

there were no instructions for testing the product. Let's just hope this works because after our water heater leaked overnight I sent for this product and prayed it would work. I wish he would let us know if we can test by putting water next to him to see the alarm go off. Don't know if it can only be used once. Why we're not sure if it even works
