Easy to use, makes great pasta once you get the hang of it.

I ordered this as a birthday/mothers day gift for my daughter and son in law. (they gave me a gift certificate) I LOVE this car. It has a small footprint which is a bonus. I'm retired and just my husband and I so we don't need a big car. Viva meets all requirements! My first batch of pasta dough was the bomb. For the semolina noodles, I used the recipe from the Philips Viva book that came with my machine. I weighed 300 grams of semolina flour and 100 grams of AP flour. (sounds good so far) The book says to use 75ml of liquid per 200g of flour. OK. I put 2 eggs in a mug and filled it up to the 150ml mark. Then I mixed everything with a fork. When Viva kneaded this dough, she got stuck and stopped! The batter was as thick as cement! I had to throw out all that dirt and clean the car. I didn't want my first try to ruin my feelings about it, so I mixed up the new batch, leaving out the semolina flour and just using AP flour. Add 400 g AP flour, 1 egg and water to 160 ml. I saw a difference as soon as he started kneading the dough. Much better. After 2-3 minutes after mixing, the spaghetti began to squeeze out of the machine. Perfect spaghetti! I don't know what's up with their semolina recipe but I wouldn't recommend it at all. Good way to wreck a car. This week I ordered a few more stamps from Philips. I can't wait for them to get here. So as long as you're using AP flour, you're good to go. Cooked spaghetti in less than 14 minutes. Pretty good.
