lives on the counter, i bought mine a few months ago.

I grew up with spaghetti in boxes. I saw a similar model on a Netflix episode and immediately wanted one. It's very easy to clean, so I'm not afraid to use it. I was in doubt as to whether it is worth buying the extra money for these verses and the hand crank is a lot cheaper. I'm really glad I went and bought this. I found other discs on another company's website that can be used to make fun shaped pasta, but haven't felt the need to buy them yet. Even though Philips bought the discs, my son…

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Something's wrong

As mentioned, this takes a bit of getting used to. The first batch failed because I misunderstood that an egg is placed in a container of water and then water remains until the 80th line. If the dough is too wet, it won't turn into noodles - it twists and turns. I've also made buckwheat that was too dry and nothing happened - just tossed and tossed. But just dropped 1/4 teaspoon of water in it and it started working right away making beautiful noodles. Lesson Learned: Should be a lot drier than

Compact but durable and powerful! Best buy ever!

I just love this car. I really wanted a pasta maker, but we have a small kitchen and move often (military). Another big device would mean constant shuffling. It fits in the oddly thin cabinet of most ovens. It's perfect. Fast: Noodles are ready when the water boils. Strong: This little guy hits. I've had it for over two years with almost weekly use and it hasn't slowed down at all. Versital: The pasta machine sounds like a one-trick pony, but making soba and ramen was awesome. I seasoned the…

Easy to use, makes great pasta once you get the hang of it.

I ordered this as a birthday/mothers day gift for my daughter and son in law. (they gave me a gift certificate) I LOVE this car. It has a small footprint which is a bonus. I'm retired and just my husband and I so we don't need a big car. Viva meets all requirements! My first batch of pasta dough was the bomb. For the semolina noodles, I used the recipe from the Philips Viva book that came with my machine. I weighed 300 grams of semolina flour and 100 grams of AP flour. (sounds good so far) The…

Surprisingly good pasta cooker that requires a bit of skill to master

I have had a Marcato Atlas 150 pasta machine for a long time, so I know how to make my delicious pasta and pasta. I chose the compact Philips pasta machine (compared to its older brother) because we have empty nests and 2-4 portions are usually enough for us. My first game didn't go well at all. Rather than interpreting the liquid directions correctly, I added 80ml of water and an egg. What I got was a mixture that was too wet and wouldn't even squeeze out! It took quite a while to clean the…
