You know. After struggling with PL259 solder for decades, I decided to give it a try. Sure, they were a little tight to slide on the 8x I use, but once I figured out what I was doing wrong, installation was a breeze. Slide the ferrule onto the cable, strip the insulation, pull the shield aside, plug in the connector, push the ferrule up again and crimp. A quick press of the soldering iron on the middle conductor and I was in business. I have to say that it only took about 2 minutes per side from start to finish. .I think it will be good. I don't think they are rubbish, it was a bit cramped for the cheap cable I use but I got it to work.
