Center Pin - Accessories and Consumables

Center Pin has some coating. Must be cleaned with steel wool/wire brush before use. Next time I'll spend more on better things.

Pros
  • Cable Type: RG8X, LMR240 or equivalent Coax OD ~ 6.15mm
Cons
  • Many

Great for me, fits accessories and supplies

Much to the chagrin of some purists, I find these crimp connectors quicker and easier to attach to smaller diameter coax. I haven't had any water ingress issues if they were properly waterproof when used outdoors. They are no more or less vulnerable than solder types.

Pros
  • UHF PL-259 Crimp Connector
Cons
  • Appearance

Might be a little tight for a cheaper solid wire cable.

You know. After struggling with PL259 solder for decades, I decided to give it a try. Sure, they were a little tight to slide on the 8x I use, but once I figured out what I was doing wrong, installation was a breeze. Slide the ferrule onto the cable, strip the insulation, pull the shield aside, plug in the connector, push the ferrule up again and crimp. A quick press of the soldering iron on the middle conductor and I was in business. I have to say that it only took about 2 minutes per side…

Pros
  • Commercial Body and Shaft UHF Connector
Cons
  • High Price
