I get the best results within 90 seconds of drying my hair, so after a shower I dry off, get dressed, wet my hair again with a lightly wrung washcloth, then dry again and apply. Seconds before applying - DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP, I didn't get it on my first try and almost wrote off the whole product because it's so tight. I don't wash it off too often before bed like I should. but I don't see any noticeable marks on the pillow, nor do I get pimples or additional damage from leaving it inside. Rinses clean - just running water, if you don't wash your hair every day, it comes out with no problem.
