I've tried some cot mattresses. I have had the best Sealy spiral mattress in my range for many years. But it just didn't work the way it used to. I'm a research and review geek and I was biting my nails for the $190 mattress I was about to pick up when I stumbled upon it. Read reviews on multiple sites. And to be honest, the price helped. The mattress has arrived and the box has been well tapped by UPS. So I was prepared for disaster, especially with some reviews mentioning oil spills, odors and tears. Luckily only the outer box was dented, and inside was a box with a mattress. Perfectly sealed in plastic and with a clear leaflet explaining the sides of the mattress and what to do. I've been insanely sensitive to smell since my last pregnancy and this one had no smell. I left it on for 48 hours but within 16 hours it reached its full size. A very good waterproof cover and even the instructions say that repeated washing and at too high a temperature or with fabric softener will cause it to lose its waterproof properties. sheet advice. I use a waterproof mattress pad and a cotton sheet. For this price and how much I like it, I will buy it again for others. I can't attest to the sleep quality as my 11 month old son has never slept well let alone slept well on his own. But it's time to move on, so this is the first step. It is firm but soft like many other memory foam mattresses and mine. I feel confident for a newborn and regret not having started. Not loud or noisy either.
