Review on πŸ’» Philips 272E1GSJ 1080p Frameless LED Monitor with Adaptive Sync and 144Hz Refresh Rate - Suitable for Gaming and High-End Computing Needs by Chris Shaw

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Ghosting/blurring is real (144Hz monitor)

24-inch 144Hz model: good, but not great. There are better monitors. Ghosting/blurring is very bad by default. You need to adjust some settings. Adjust them when running the Bluebuster ghosting test. - Increasing the brightness in the NVIDIA settings by 5-10% eliminated many ghosting, but not all. You can also play with contrast and gamma a bit. Adjusting too much blurs the image but eliminates more ghosting (adjustments in the monitor's OSD menu didn't have that much of an impact. Only the nvidia color settings have a significant effect). Make sure your monitor's response is set to "fastest". Parameter. The default is "fast". The Smartimage presets make everything look terrible. Don't use them. After making these changes, the problem is minimized but not completely resolved. You'll notice this most on dark themes, in low blue light mode, and in dark areas in games. Games like Rocket League look great due to the lack of dark areas. I'm only keeping it because of the retail price I bought it for. Still better than any 60Hz monitor.

Pros
  • Gives pleasure
Cons
  • Color balancing: If the colors on the display are not precisely calibrated, the display can appear washed out or too bright.
