I bought this multimeter to test if the water heater thermocouple is working. My water heater's pilot light would not stay on. It is very likely that the thermocouple has failed. But I had to be sure. So I used this voltage tester. When I lit the pilot and held it down I checked the thermocouple voltage and it showed 1mV which was not good. A voltage of 20 mV is required for operation. After replacing the thermocouple I checked again and now the reading was 20mV. Thanks to the help of this little tool.
