CAREFUL! THIS ITEM CAN CAUSE DAMAGE!

CAUTION! THIS ITEM CAN CAUSE DAMAGE! I have two birds and I ordered this nutcracker so I can crack fresh nuts for them. It was cute and seemed perfect as my birds love looking out the window and watching the wild squirrels in our garden. At first he seemed better. It weighs several ounces and is a good sized nutcracker. The problem with this nutcracker was discovered when we used it to crack nuts. No, I'm not joking. My mother was the one who used it for the first time. Luckily she is always safe, otherwise this nutcracker would seriously injure her. When this nutcracker cracks, it splits quite a bit of the squirrel's head and down the body (at the seams). My mom put her hand on the squirrel's head for leverage as she pushed the fairy down to crack the nut. After splitting a handful of nuts for our birds, she felt and realized that the squirrel's head had split open. If she hadn't moved her hand in time, she would have pinched it. The scary thing is that the only way to get this thing to crack again is to crack another nut. This nutcracker would no doubt have hurt my mother if she hadn't felt the squirrel's head and body split open and if she hadn't pulled her hand away before closing it around her arm. We taped all the seams of the squirrel and tied the fairy tale together to keep this nutcracker from being used easily. It's cute to keep as a decoration. I plan to paint it and give the squirrel a ceramic walnut as a gift. I also plan to glue the fairy tale in place. I think if you already have one, don't let kids use this nutcracker (at least), and be very careful if you decide to use it.

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Good, but not great
