Initially we used the feeders that came with our cage for our first birds (parrots) but we didn't like them. They were a nuisance to get in and out of as they are attached to the sliding doors. They are easy to put on and then you just grab the shell and take it out. I think I've read reports of rust but haven't seen one yet. In fact, I wash it and let it dry on a stainless steel sink and it's fine. But we don't use it for water. We use for seeds and vegetables. Birds love to sit there with food. Come to think of it, it's big enough for them to do it easily.
