Beware of this lack of product

Overall a good product but with a significant problem for my application: I wanted to mount the fan on the back of my media cabinet so that it protrudes into the case as little as possible, i.e. flush with the front of the fan inside the cabinet and the fan housing outside. In order to do this and at the same time keep the fan working in exhaust mode, it is necessary to disassemble the case and physically change the direction of the fans inside, as described in the instructions. However, the problem with this became immediately apparent when the fans were turned on. The fans now pull air into the front grille instead of blowing air out as in the standard configuration, resulting in an unacceptably loud, deep whistle (at least for me), presumably due to some kind of resonance effect of the grille vents. like the wind howling through a badly locked door. I checked for dirt on the fan blades etc but there was none and this noise seemed to be generated entirely passively by the incoming airflow interacting with the grille. The only solution I could find is to flip the grille and fan shroud (and fans) inside the case so the intake through the fan shrouds has now been moved towards the front of the unit and the exhaust through the grille has now moved to the rear been postponed. It worked, the noise went away, so it turned out to be an adequate, but not elegant solution, with a violation of aesthetics and a slight distortion of the fan case due to a non-standard configuration. In general it worked. as needed, but with trade-offs, although it should have been the legal configuration described in the manual. Hence the two stars.
