I had a .030 .030 bore 402 Chevy engine and used this to hone it to put a piston in instead of paying the machine shop another $100. It works great, I have .002" piston clearance (recommended for stock cast pistons) and although it felt snug when dry fitted, with assembly lube the pistons slid perfectly. Note for uninformed buyers that this doesn't tell you how large you need some sort of caliper to measure pistons and you zero that tool to that measurement so you can see by how much 0.001 you're off that size. the diameter of the skirts, what is actually read there, doesn't matter, only the size is needed to adjust this tool to it.
