I read all the negative reviews. Some of these are valid fears and some are just common sense. Here are some tips for working with brakes: 1) Remove the brake fluid reservoir cap. This allows the caliper piston to compress/repel more easily since the air trapped in the reservoir has to go somewhere. 2) Do not use the force of the tool to compress the brake piston. Do this slowly, allowing the caliper piston to retract with little effort. So slowly twist the handle of the tool and with very little force release the caliper piston back into the body and it will slide in smoothly. 3) It's true, the plates won't move unless pressure is applied to both plates. So here's what you do. Pivot the floating plate outward until it is snug against the caliper. Once the tool is firmly seated, now push down lightly on the plates by rotating the tool's handle and the tool plates will begin to move outward, pushing the caliper piston back. Do it slowly and let the caliper piston move very hard. little strength. Apply force and you will brake the tool. Aside from the above, this is an excellent tool that can be used to compress a caliper piston when performing brake work. Hope that helps.
