These drink holders are for...yes, teacups. You look pretty, really. If they aren't closed you definitely have dust in your cups, but it really makes a difference when you can see the raised saucer. I was a little worried about them unfurling, but they actually hold up pretty well. You can always add something, but generally these are not the most visible and therefore attractive ways to show off your cups. I also have one of my small mugs - obviously a different size, but you know what, it still works great.
