Bought a bike with really weird bottom bracket requirements and ended up needing this tool (or something similar). While it did the job I had to use an outlet, or at least something with much narrower shoulders around the 48.5mm side. Your bike must have a large and perfectly flat bottom bracket area to avoid pinching. And a head could be put on a torque wrench. This guy maximizes your chances of wrecking the bike without providing feedback, with plenty of room for it to slide off completely and leave unsightly holes in your carbon frame. But it worked. Maybe. The wheel hasn't fallen apart yet.
