This is almost identical to the old heating mat I have (which still works btw) . Path) . I just wanted something simple and durable to keep my new kennel warm. I have two kennels for two dogs that sleep outside in Alabama. I didn't need fancy features like "it only turns on when a pet is on it". I need them to dress before they go to bed so I can lure them into the kennel at night. (They are used to sleeping on the porch.) I control the turning on and off with a timer attached to the power cords. (There's no point in heating dog kennels during the day.) I put a piece of carpet on top to provide a bit of padding. This mat gets warm, not hot, and the cord is securely wrapped with thick wire to prevent biting and chewing.
