Copper-coated aluminum has a resistance approximately ten times that of copper. So if you're looking at that 14 AWG wire because you want to handle more current (otherwise why would you need a thick gauge wire?), then keep looking. Google a wire resistance chart and you will see that 1000 feet of real 14 AWG copper wire has a resistance of about 2.5 ohms, while this copper clad aluminum wire has about 25 ohms per 1000 feet. You have to be careful, you pay 14 AWG and actually only get 24 to 22 AWG (very thin). Ohm's law doesn't lie, one foot of this cable will result in a loss of 300 mV at 12 amps = 25.6 m ohms, so 25 ohms per 1000 feet.
