I replaced a cheaper previous generation bluetooth receiver with this one. I noticed two shortcomings with my older receiver: latency (sound delay) and slight music distortion at very large volume ranges between tones and tones. First, performance: sound in music videos, where I played the sound through my stereo and viewed the image on my iPad. It was clearly a noticeable improvement. (2) There is a subtle but important improvement in sound resolution as the ability to distinguish very soft sounds and sounds in the presence of louder sounds and music in the background can be improved. Material. It also somewhat improves the intelligibility of certain music. Keep in mind that unless you are using very good speakers, a very good audio amplifier and don't have an "ear for music", you may not hear the difference in sound resolution. I'm not a musician, but I listen to my music critically. If your stereo or other device has an optical audio input, this device has an optical output. I haven't tested this as I only use RCA outputs. Quality: The device is small and looks well made. It feels solid and seems to work reliably. Ease of use: The only reason I didn't give the product 5 stars is that you need to provide your own USB power adapter. I think that for such a price of the device, an AC adapter should be included. They provide a power cord but no power adapter. This isn't a big problem since most of us have a spare smartphone charger. If you're going to use this in your bedroom like I did, you'll need to cut out a small circle of black tape and cover up the obnoxious bright blue light. Steady on when connected to a Bluetooth device - it's not too bad, but disconnect the Bluetooth device and it keeps blinking - very annoying. It seems like every bluetooth adapter I have has the same problem. I had no trouble connecting to my iPad - it connects and pairs like most Bluetooth devices. There are no problems here. By the way, if you use Apple iPad or iPhone devices, you CANNOT use more than one of them in the same house. In the latest version of iOS, Apple does NOT allow you to rename most Bluetooth devices. As far as I know, only native Apple Bluetooth devices can be renamed to iOS. This Bluetooth device will appear as "BRX01 HD" in your list of Bluetooth devices. If you were to add a second identical block, there would be a conflict over the identical name. I had the same problem with a similar adapter.
