Review on AT&T Dove Gray 1782 2-Line Answering System with Caller ID/Call Waiting by Yolanda Reed

Totally satisfied with this 2 line autoresponder. We have a Siemens 2420 Gigaset phone system but the built in answering machine is poorly designed so we disabled that feature when we got our AT&T 1782. We used to have dozens of messages consisting of just short beeps when the salesperson called. and hang up. Now we only get real messages from real subscribers. Took me about half an hour to set it up, but it's really not that difficult. The features are really worth the effort. If the caller has a blocked number, we use a pre-recorded message that we don't accept blocked callers and they hang up to prevent the caller from leaving a message. If the caller is unknown, ie no caller ID is displayed, then my recorded voice will inform the caller that we do not take telemarketing calls. We found that the caller can leave a message, you can also hang up as sometimes the caller's known number doesn't appear (blame on the phone companies, not the answering machine) and this gives them the option to leave. Message or say please pick up. We've also configured it to announce "Unknown caller" during a call. Best of all, it's smart enough to know there's either silence or annoying beeps after the telemarketer calls, so you don't have to record the message and hang up. You can record separate messages for regular callers on lines 1 and 2. It also has a 10 known phone numbers feature so you can let us know when the phone rings, who's calling, and have the ability to play a special message for that caller when you're not home. Great feature during dinner and other times when you don't want to answer calls or even want to look up caller ID! There are many other features that I don't have space to describe. We've also tried telezappers and they don't work. We've regained our privacy and now know who's calling without even looking at the caller ID. This product is great! I am impressed how happy this product makes us.
