The hardest part was drilling the four corner holes perfectly straight down to ensure perfect alignment with the black steel baseplate. So I just lengthened the holes by wiggling the drill and was able to adjust the underlying screws to line up with the holes on the base plate. Using a 3-1/2" lenox hole saw made the installation easy although be VERY CAREFUL. On several occasions the hole saw has snagged/jammed while drilling, stopping abruptly and severely twisting my wrist. Before drilling each hole, I didn't press down on the drill bit and I didn't press down on the drill bit - that helped a lot. Be sure to tighten the screws and retighten the screws after a few days. I am very happy with these D-rings.
