I like the old iOttie mounts so I bought these. Minimalist design and it works with my iPhone 12 mini. After reading some negative comments, I collected the following main complaints: - magnets not strong enough - charging cable construction - mounting solution (suction cup) does not work. While I'm not trying to downplay these complaints, as a consumer you need to make sure you do proper product research to ensure it fits your car and needs. Therefore, I will address each complaint above. Just my opinion, so it's different for everyone- The magnets aren't strong enough: you have to use the metal plates included in the kit. If you try to use your phone without the metal plates that came with it, your phone will fall. The magnets are strong but on the bottom of the charger. So if you have a phablet (a tablet-sized phone), it's too heavy for the top of the phone to slide off. However, there's a sticky rubber pad on the top of the charger here that should prevent that from happening. You need to clean this sticky rubber pad from time to time or it won't grip your phone. If you have a phablet, you might want to consider something else. Charging cable: Agree that a straight micro USB cable is not suitable for mounting on an air vent. disturbs the installation. iOttie had to include a 90 degree cable which I purchased separately from the following link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01COTBHV0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1- Mounting solution: for those who complain about the attachment of the suction cup. Latest news! sucking suckers! You are not working. I bought an air vent mount as I've never had success with suction cup mounts. Either the suction cups stop sucking due to temperature changes inside the car, or the adhesive comes off the mount, etc. So if your car can't install the vent mount, you may need another solution (like a suction cup mount). holder, mount for cd, permanent attachment with screws (ugh!) The vent mount suits me, the only downside is that I have to cover the vent in winter as I don't want it to be the charger/phone with air conditioning in summer ok as cold air blows. Be aware that depending on your vehicle's vent design, the air vent can render it completely unusable. Luckily this one works well with mine so I can still control the blinds on the vent. That's it. Do your research and if that doesn't work just return it and get another one that suits your situation.
