I have an old Sunbeam stand mixer (along with my Kitchen Aide for more intense blending) that is on its last legs after about 35 years and I was looking for one others to replace it. This one was full of plastic. The racquets look like they are some sort of composite (currently stainless steel) which I wouldn't put next to food! Very cheaply made. When you buy something you want it to last, plastic isn't. It was clear the box had been opened and possibly used. I can't say anything specific about the use, but definitely open. Maybe the last customer felt like I did that they didn't want all that plastic. I repackaged it and sent it back. If you don't plan on using it in the short term I would skip it and look for a better product - worth it in the long term.
