This is AMAZINGLY soft. I don't know if a kid really cares, but it definitely seems like a nicer place to rest his bare bottom than the rough terry cloth I've seen on other covers! I have the Summer Infant contoured changing pad and it fits perfectly EXCEPT for the shoulder straps. If you plan to use straps, note that the holes in this lid are very close to the center - only about 6 inches apart. Cover the child and then tuck it back under the child to then cross over, but that seems like a poorly planned design to me. You plan to use the harnesses and don't mind your child laying on part of the harness, no problem. If you want the harnesses to fit snugly around your child, you will have problems when your child is older than 6 years is.
