I have a cat with a herpes virus that can sometimes be very harmful to the eyes. I tried other treats that no one liked, were hard, and didn't have enough lysine. I put lysine powder in the common bowl with kibble, but the dosage was out of control. Tried to mix with water and put in a syringe but it's very dirty! They are about the size of two nickels stacked on top of each other and have a very chewy, soft texture. I broke one in three and at first it didn't respond. They really don't smell much and my cat didn't notice them at first. I put it in and after a while she ate the first piece and asked for more! I'm so happy to finally be able to give her a measured dose of the only treatment available. I know she got better when I continued to give her oral lysine shots, it's just not a viable option. Cats have very different tastes, but if you have one with eye, nasal and respiratory herpes, that's 500 grams in a chewable spoon. My vet suggests 1000 per day during flare-ups and 500 for maintenance. If your cat doesn't like them, find an animal shelter and donate them.
