I have tons of iron in my water at 33ppm and lots of manganese. While the Berkey filters didn't remove all of the iron, it didn't make it into the tank, in other words you could still taste it but not see it. Also, the oily film that manganese leaves on the water surface wasn't on berkey's filtered water, but with these filters the oily film is still there and the iron is in the filtered tank. I've also found that the Berkey filters take quite a while to fill up, and it does so in just a few seconds. Speaking of getting what you paid for, that certainly applies here, although I certainly think $70 is a steep price to pay for useless filters. I wouldn't trust them to erase anything. Knowing what I know now, I will only buy Berkey filters. So if iron and manganese are the problem, save the $70 and apply it to the more expensive but much better filters that only Berkey supplies!
