Review on Enhanced Resolution Preamplifier - Micca OriGen G2 by Katherine Hernandez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great DAC/amp for your computer with great headphone performance

I was looking for a good DAC/amp combo but as this will be my first I didn't want to break the bank. I've tried doing a little research online - unfortunately, it seems like a lot of people are either focused on one brand or think that you have to go all out on your first set and spend over $350 to get something that sounds great to get. I hate to disappoint them, but the OriGen G2 will do it - not only does it sound great and have the features I wanted, it was less than $110 at the time of purchase! I think the flexibility of this unit is one of the most overlooked benefits - it offers multiple inputs (although I only use the USB input with my PC) but the fact that it has a front panel switch that lets you choose between them can choose headphone output and rear line out? It's amazing. I never have to unplug my headphones and can decide at the push of a button whether I want to listen in person or have the sound go through my speakers. I was also very impressed with the DAC and amplifier - not sure what I was expecting but the clarity and separation of the sound really made for an incredible sound. I could hear nuances in the music that I had never heard before, and in some cases it was like hearing the song again for the first time. If you have any doubts about whether this will affect your PC's sound card, I understand that this device has changed its mind. Instead of relying on the motherboard sound, I hook up this simple device that gives me incredible sound with a clarity I didn't have before. For those worried about compatibility, I was able to connect this device to Windows 10. Version 1803 is that simple.
