sharp edges can damage fins

This plant looked great in the packaging and even better in my aquarium. The problem is the sharp edges I found on the ends of the three stems. I found it necessary to trim and grind three stems before adding them to my betta tank. I don't find this plant particularly soft and can't believe it's actually silk.
