Works well. A little clumsy. The built-in cable is too short.

I bought a 1TB SSD to use with a new laptop with limited and very expensive M.2 RAM. Since an SSD is expensive, I bought a shockproof case and this one, with its MIL spec promise, looked good. I've noted complaints of apparently "defective" devices and suggested remedies, so I took great care to ensure the SSD was fully installed. You will need to slide the seals back to visually verify proper seating. It's easy to see how people could put in a disc and think it was fully inserted when it wasn't. Anyway, I inserted the SSD, plugged the built-in 6" cable into the USB 3.0 port, and the drive was recognized immediately. I've also tried it on a powered USB 3.0 hub with the same results. The length of the 6 inch cable may be dictated by the design of the device, but in my opinion it is too short. I will carry a short USB extension cable with me. On the other hand, the 6-inch cable wraps tightly on the side and it doesn't get lost or misplaced, which is one of the reasons I liked this device. I don't know if this device will survive. the impact claim, and I'm not going to drop it on a concrete floor to test it. But judging by the looks, this device is definitely built to absorb bumps and falls. Actually it's very impressive. The case has a masculine design that doesn't particularly appeal to me and is understandably larger than traditional external storage cases. The base is attached to the body with six small screws. A small screwdriver is included and my unit had eight screws, which is good because the screws that fell on the carpet won't be easy to find. The screws are driven into silicone, not metal or hard plastic. You have to be very careful not to overtighten them. Overall I think I'm getting my money's worth in this case and my SSD is pretty well protected. I used CrystalMark to test my SSD in this case and in my limited testing it seems fast enough, which is good enough for my needs and given the circumstances. I will mainly use it for storing projects and transferring necessary files to the laptop's internal M.2, which is incredibly fast. Jerry
