Works well. A little clumsy. The built-in cable is too short.

I bought a 1TB SSD to use with a new laptop with limited and very expensive M.2 RAM. Since an SSD is expensive, I bought a shockproof case and this one, with its MIL spec promise, looked good. I've noted complaints of apparently "defective" devices and suggested remedies, so I took great care to ensure the SSD was fully installed. You will need to slide the seals back to visually verify proper seating. It's easy to see how people could put in a disc and think it was fully inserted when it…

This is my best choice.

First, the cable is non-detachable. I LOVE that you don't lose the cable, you don't need an extra cable, it fits and works well. I get great transfer speeds over USB 3. If like me you have a bunch of 2.5" drives gathering dust, this is a great way to turn them into portable drives. This model is the most durable. Installing the drive is a bit more complicated. than the budget model, but it's worth the extra work. This thing reminds me of cell phones I've carried in Otter Box cases in the past…

I'm a tech skeptic who's impressed

Okay I only picked this because it has a built in cable and I'm sick of my current outer case detaching from a loose cable when it so is moves even a little bit. I have to say I'm impressed! The product seems really durable. The instructions are in SMALL print, but hardly necessary because it's intuitive: split halves and insert disc, assemble and fasten with screws (screws and screwdriver included). Inside is a foam pad that absorbs shock and holds the disc in place, and the pad is positioned…

Love the look

I put in an old SSD to use as a travel drive. No major problems, the drives work very well once installed. The only issue I had was that the cable is a bit short when trying to use it in close proximity to a USB hub, but given the case I wouldn't ask for more. I like his looks. I have ordered 3 more for other drives. The description says it fits a 9.5mm disc. It doesn't fit in mine, the connector board is bolted to the case and there isn't enough room for the drive to fit in the connector. You…

Rugged with integrated cable

Installation was easy (unscrew 6 screws) and just make sure the SSD is firmly/fully seated in the slot. The rubber bumpers around the edge and the rubber inside should be enough to protect the SSD from a significant drop. The lid is pressed into a slot in the rubber case to create a [hopefully] watertight seal. Although the edge feels very hard, perhaps to withstand being run over by a car (didn't try), I deducted 1 star for fear that you could easily pinch the center of the case with your…

Lightweight, weatherproof case

This case is incredibly light, especially if you're installing an SSD. All of this is almost weightless. It's also a fairly permanent setup. The case is held together by six screws, and they only dig into the plastic from the other side, so you don't have to keep swapping discs in this thing. Just know this in advance and you will be fine. It's designed more for popping in a disc and leaving it there. I didn't test the case's environmental credentials as I don't plan on throwing my drive in the

Exactly what I needed.

First remove the rubber from the hard plastic top case. You do not need to remove the screws at this point. Next, locate the bag of screws (there are a few extra screws included that will come in handy) and a square foam adhesive pad inside the device cavity. Insert the HDD/SSD into the rubber case where there is less rubber on both sides. This slot fits the drive perfectly into the drive seat. This is a dry run, you will then place a square of foam rubber under and over the disc in a…

Looks like decent protection

Works as a mass storage device when plugged in, nothing unusual yet. Works on my MacBook Pro and PC. The case looks a little cheaper than it looks in the photos, there are finish details that make it 'tough', but that's quite a cosmetic effect. However, it appears to be good enough and may be waterproof when viewed during installation. Rubber seals are pressed against each other without a gap anyway. The connection of the drive inside the case is a bit fiddly to install it properly. You have to

Robust with integrated cable

Easy installation (remove 6 screws), just make sure the SSD is fully seated in the slot. The rubber bumpers around the edge and the rubber inside should be enough to protect the SSD from a violent fall. The lid is pressed into a slot in the rubber case to create a [hopefully] watertight seal. Although the edge feels very hard, perhaps to withstand being run over by a car (didn't try), I deducted 1 star for fear that you could easily pinch the center of the case with your hands and hear air…
