First, the cable is non-detachable. I LOVE that you don't lose the cable, you don't need an extra cable, it fits and works well. I get great transfer speeds over USB 3. If like me you have a bunch of 2.5" drives gathering dust, this is a great way to turn them into portable drives. This model is the most durable. Installing the drive is a bit more complicated. than the budget model, but it's worth the extra work. This thing reminds me of cell phones I've carried in Otter Box cases in the past. I carry the hard drive in my military style MOLLE backpack and I don't worry about damage. Just the thing for demanding things like me.
