Easy installation (remove 6 screws), just make sure the SSD is fully seated in the slot. The rubber bumpers around the edge and the rubber inside should be enough to protect the SSD from a violent fall. The lid is pressed into a slot in the rubber case to create a [hopefully] watertight seal. Although the edge feels very hard, perhaps to withstand being run over by a car (didn't try), I deducted 1 star for fear that you could easily pinch the center of the case with your hands and hear air leak. /beep. There is a gap of about a quarter inch between the case and the boards with the SSD attached. So as long as you don't push it underwater it should remain waterproof, possibly waterproof, although with an air pocket inside it might just float (didn't try). The built-in 14-inch cable is long enough to reach a laptop but can dangle from a desktop tower. It's not small, and definitely not as small as NVMe SSD enclosures, but with the size of a large phone in an Otterbox enclosure, you get a very well-protected portable hard drive without worrying about forgetting or plugging the cable to lose.
