I bought them to clean my toilets because I can't pay for a stick it sometimes takes me 2-3 to clean a toilet. Anyway, I decided to try and get that carbonaceous grime off my expensive Le Creuset pots. I would advise you to treat the $400 Le Creuset better than we did and not overheat it (above average temperature). My teenage daughter was learning to cook and didn't know any better. Anyway, I've tried everything on this black stuff, Bartenders Friend helped a little. With this pumice stone I'm finally rid of the nasty things! I wouldn't recommend this being your first try because although it removes carbon deposits, it also removes some tooth enamel. The ONLY places that really damaged the enamel were where the cast iron had overheated enough to cause blisters and a rough texture. But I was ready to replace those pans, and for that I had to save a lot. I'll still be replacing them, but in the meantime we now have halfway decent looking pots to cook with. By the way, my Le Creuset pans are very old, they are about 10+ years old. For enamel parts that were not damaged by overheating, the enamel was not damaged by this pumice stone.
