This isn't a standard Bosch style relay, it's a completely different beast but has some similarities. It works great as a "latch" relay. It has 5 pins: 30 - 12V hotS - instantaneous ground from your switched source (make sure it's instantaneous, holding ground will damage the relay I've heard) 56 - input load/power 56a - output 156b - Output 2. Pins 30 and S make your coil high switch which when activated will switch the output power between pins 56a and 56b depending on the load/power on pin 56. So with a single ground pulse input you can switch between two devices, or in my case. Turn on and off a device with the same pulse source. I hooked this up to channel 3 on my car alarm to drive an LED I installed in the front grille. When I press channel 3 on my remote, the relay switches power to 56b and sends power to the light to turn it on. Then later I activate the same channel 3 on my remote control to turn off the light, the relay switches back to pin 56a [which has nothing connected to it]. Great little latching trigger/relay that allowed me to use just one input/channel from the alarm to control the power to the device, saving channel 4 for something else! It was originally developed for VW vehicles and used in headlight assemblies. 56a is low beam, 56b is high beam and there is a button on the turn signal lever to switch between them. This is a slightly old design and has several names I've come across: VW Part # 111-941-583 (I think it was the original) LR35Borg Warner Standard Relay (BWD) R3018 RelayDNI 0127NAPA Part Number AR284From what I can say they are all functionally equivalent to aftermarket versions. I ordered this from Revain because it was the lowest price I found and as always the fastest delivery, especially with Prime. I am deducting one star for the following reason: - This relay has no base and has 4 out of 5 pins. sit pretty close together. I've had success using spade connectors (larger) to connect these pins and then wrapping tape around the whole thing. The relay detaches too easily from its plastic housing. When this happened multiple times while trying to disconnect the spade connector the whole relay would come out instead leaving the plastic case in my other hand lol. Relatively high price compared to traditional Bosch relays (more than 5 times more expensive) - There is no mounting stud/protrusion like traditional Bosch relays, instead there is a very small metal protrusion on top of the plastic housing. I've used this in a non-standard application to be honest, but it's just nice to notice. But overall a good product, very glad I found it and will be ordering another one to keep as a spare for future projects.
