I can't believe I waited so long to replace this part. The rear air in our 2004 Chevy Tahoe had a speed last year - full steam ahead! Children either froze or boiled, there was no intermediate option. So I knew the fan was running and the louvers were working because you can control the temperature very well, but the fan speed is either at full speed or not at all. The motor cable on this unit was a bit shorter than the OEM and the tabs didn't sit flush with the box so I had to use some longer screws, but overall it fit great. Now we have all three speeds again! The wife will be delighted. As others have said, the dealer wanted four hundred dollars for the job. View the video/images on removing the backplane assembly. It is located just behind the right rear wall. You have to remove part of the floor, then the rack panel, and then you can remove that panel. I didn't actually remove the whole plate because the motor drag is right back there. I was able to stick a screwdriver in and replace it. The Best $50 and 30 Minutes Ever Spent.
