Note I have not yet tested the reliability and battery life. These types of flashlights are really wonderful - light, small and flexible. Different brands have slightly different goals. I will briefly compare each device here and then cut and paste this review into each other brand's review, but change the stars as needed. I have Hooga Amber and Hooga Dual, Gearlight Nightowl, Briignite Booklight 4 brightness 5 colors and Gloucsent Reading 3 colors 5 brightness. (Note - I also have blue Hooga barrage lights and highly recommend them if you want to get up at night and wander around and then go back to sleep - the only flashlight I like for that - but you can also just go with your amber Hooga light.) The Hooga Amber Light is fantastic if you just want some amber light at night and it's super easy to use. The Hooga Dual adds a different color when you need more functionality, but then going through to get the right brightness and color when it's too late you have to hold your hand over the light while you turn it off - what is easy. Gearlight is very similar to Hooga but brighter. If you want more options and significantly more brightness and don't have to go through everything to get what you want, then Briignite is really excellent at remembering what you set last time. The one thing I wouldn't buy again is Gloucsent. While it has great brightness and color options, they've done the craziest thing - they've got a row of blue lights when it's on to show you how much power is left. So you have these bright blue lights staring you in the face! Also, the controls are on the base, not the head, and I personally find the controls on the head much more comfortable. Plus, the controls are fluid, requiring you to look closely to see what you're touching. Everyone else has head control. Briignite has better head control - they stick out a bit so you can easily find your way around without looking and pick exactly what you want, but Hooga and Gearlight are very convenient in the dark - just one button (only you have to switch between change them) . get what you want). If I were to do it again I would go for an amber hooga if I just need to sleep a little late at night to keep the lights on and Briignite for reading and all. (Note that Gearlight is almost identical to Hooga.)
