I'm a man and I don't have long hair or anything like that. I mainly used the detangler as a scalp massager in the shower while washing my hair. But the detangler was like using a cheese grater on my head. I was pretty sure I was probably peeling layers of skin off, but I knew it worked well and wasn't sure there was anything that could massage the scalp just as well and keep the hair clean. However, there was a painful compromise. I have thick hair and it's a blessing. So I didn't want anything too soft or flimsy and ordered a few different products that were very similar. I just want to find that sweet spot of firmness and softness without being too weak to feel like it's working or too hard to feel like I'm scalping myself. This one nailed him. Many other similar products could be cleaned effectively, this one is solid and doesn't need cleaning that much. It's very, very durable and feels good. It's a nice comfortable weight and I love how it feels on my scalp. Definitely happy with it and glad I made the purchase.
