I have to say that I have used several different canister filters and the Fluval hose has always bothered me whereas other companies use regular clear plastic hose, Fluval opts for a ribbed hose which is very difficult to fit with fixtures connect is if you just don't buy the separately available rubber couplings. I've had no problem using Aquatop filters with PVC pipe and fittings, which can be bought at any hardware store for a dime. Fluval stuff you have to buy online for $5-$10 each. You decide.
