ORIGINALPOST (update below): When I was replacing most of the screw legs in a bunch of upholstered chairs used on smooth concrete at the school I work at, I decided to take an extra step and Add felt pads to the bottom of the new (plastic) legs. Unfortunately I ordered the wrong size. These 1" rims are too big for 3/4" feet. It's all my fault. Also, it's fair to say that kids don't like chairs. They move all 20 daily, pushing them several feet at a time across slick concrete. For two weeks I had to reapply two to four felt pads every day. There are several covered sockets on the floor where these chairs are used and I know from experience that if you try to move the chair leg over these bumps in the floor the felt pads will immediately slide out, but even without their useful help chairs . Outlet caps, the pads still slide out fairly easily. Some chairs still have their original legs and those old 1" metal legs seem to work better than the new 3/4" plastic legs, but the pads still come off. Since the pads are still in good condition, I started attaching them with a few drops of superglue and that seems to have fixed the problem. I think these pads work better in living spaces where furniture isn't moved on a daily basis, and part of the problem I have is that the smaller feet means all of the pads' sticky surface isn't being used, but I have to say I'm generally unimpressed with the grip, although I'm quite impressed that the felt pads themselves seem to be holding up great. My advice is if you are using these felt pads on a rougher surface. or in an environment where furniture is moved frequently, invest a few bucks in superglue as insurance. Given that the felt pads themselves seem to hold up pretty well, the cost of the superglue is probably worth the money. Still probably cheaper than buying premium pads with higher quality adhesive. UPDATE IN 5 MONTHS: no pads left. Even with super glue (and then epoxy) they just couldn't resist the kids moving furniture every day. I'm starting to suspect that maybe the plastic levelers themselves are made of glue-resistant plastic. The pads were sticky but came off fairly easily. These pads worked MUCH better on old metal aligners that weren't replaced with plastic. I'm sure these pads are perfect for normal household use when the furniture isn't being moved literally every day.
