Bought this item to take to amusement parks to avoid sunburn. Lovely item, arrived quickly and was as cute and dainty as I had hoped. seems durable and the UV screen blocks tons of sunlight! I was afraid it would be too small in diameter but it fits me perfectly and will fit someone even taller/larger with no problem. The closed umbrella measures approximately 11 inches and weighs approximately 11.8 ounces. When open, the diameter is about 34 inches. Instructions for correct opening are included. I've lengthened the handle a bit, and when you straighten the open portion of the umbrella, you're actually stretching each arm until it snaps into place. Once you open it and close it once, you'll be a pro. Easy to use One thing to note about this particular umbrella, if you're not a fan of glitter, don't buy it. The peak and carrying case are decorated with sequins. I'm a HUGE FAN of sequins and love them, but if not then maybe go for something non-sequined.
