Review on Pentek 3G Slim Line πŸ”§ Pressure: Advanced Solution for Precise Pressure Control by Jimmy Hargrove

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works with compressed air at 120 PSI as a drying filter

I use a Pentek clear filter housing as a drying filter in a high pressure air system to remove moisture from the line when spraying paint. I chose this one for two reasons: clear plastic jar so I can tell if the desiccant needs replacing, and reasonable price. Contrary to what some suspect, the filter housing is rated at 125psi, which is stated on the manufacturer's website and in the documentation that came with the unit. I added a PVC tube down the middle of the bottle with a 40 micron air filter at the bottom. PVC sprinkler pipe that I sanded down and then added some teflon tape to fit snugly into the outlet in the cap. I partially filled with desiccant balls to accommodate the volume of the air hose. The only problem with bead filling is getting the seal well cleaned before screwing the cap on. After several cycles to 120psi and back to 0, I found no leaks or signs of air pressure loading. The only thing that struck me was that looking at the picture on the website I was assuming the top, so the threaded connections were metal and the lid was all plastic. I used teflon tape on the threaded connections and didn't over tighten and there were no leaks from there or from the top.
