Great inexpensive little display.

I am using this with Sparkfun ESP8266 Thing. Works perfectly! Nice little, crisp and inexpensive little display. I'm using it with the u8g2 library and I'm only interested in a text display with no graphics at the moment, so I'm using the light text version of the u8x8 library/API and calling the display U8X8_SSD1306_128X32_UNIVISION_HW_I2C. This simple library is very easy to use - just remember to put pull-up resistors on SCL/SDA if you don't already have an I2C device on the bus that does. Do not use it in places where the display is continuously on for a long time. I expect that after a few thousand hours of use the pixels will start to dim as that is the nature of OLED. However, they're great for short-term projects and for long-term projects where the pixels don't stay on all the time. If you view the image continuously for a long time, don't be surprised if it starts to get darker.

Pros
  • Annual test period
Cons
  • Negative impression
