Review on πŸ—Ώ Sculpture Block Polyurethane Foam Carving Block - Versatile and Durable 12 x 6 x 4 Inches, White by Wendy Rodriguez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy to mold

Did exactly what I wanted. It is soft enough to be cut with blunt tools used for working with clay. This makes it easy to use and the minimal effort makes it less dangerous than wood carving. It's not soft enough to warp or crumble during processing, although I've been careful with it (you can poke your fingernail in if you press on it. There's a lot of dust, but that's with this type of material to be expected I've mostly worked on a tray and rinsed it off and when you're done, dry your hands.Despite the foam content, dust doesn't cling from static electricity, as pieces of Styrofoam are easy to blunt before covering.I use it to make Japanese family crests that attach to fukigaeshi on kabuto (ear muffs on an ancient Japanese helmet) a few subtle details of less than a millimeter and I was pleased with the ease they stand out I wanted gesso x 2 use as a primer before painting them gold, but I think gesso can erase those details so I can't comment on how well it primes or paints the paint he processes.

Pros
  • Includes 1 30 x 15 x 10 cm / 11.8 x 5.9 x 3.9 block conforming to ASTM D 4236.
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

More porous than expected. Fairly abrasive, too.
