I bought a core i5 3450 to replace it, the difference is almost not noticeable. Power consumption (according to the wattmeter from the outlet) is approximately 30 watts at full load. For 1700 - I think it's quite a normal option. For twice the number of cores in core i5, I do not consider it advisable to overpay 3-4 times the amount.
