It appears to be of high quality, but I'm not sure how well it protects against surges.
This product has no inlet/outlet installation mark, but it may not matter since it is a gas line. I'm not interested in spade grounding and would instead prefer a standard industrial through-hole ground for easier installation. Hopefully he never sees any spikes, but he's there if it ever happens.
