Review on Fractal Design Define R5 - ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - High Airflow and Silent Optimized - Includes 2x Dynamix GP-14 140mm Silent Fans - Water-Cooling Ready - Black by Chun Chun ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent product, the best quality.

Chose the case for a very long time. I would buy the Define R4 (that one is still a bestseller), but it has a maximum of 295mm for a video card (if you do not remove the cells for hard ones). R5 has 310mm. It would seem, trifles, but no. The size of a modern high-performance video card is just 290~305mm. Those. the video card will definitely fit into R5 (well, if it doesn’t fit, you can, like in R4, remove the block for five screws, BUT in R5 it can be rearranged down next to the bottom one!). Actually, for the sake of this I was waiting for this case. Again, it’s mega convenient to place the wires behind the motherboard and fasten another SSD there (already 2 pieces are possible). Reobas: the first two speeds are not audible at all, at the third speed only air movement is audible (an interesting sound, by the way), but the noise of the fans themselves is not audible anyway (bearings, apparently, are normal and not yet worn out). Very cool fastening of hard drives (through rubber washers). In general, the case has analogues. If not for this one, I would take: Cooler Master Silencio 652S. It feels like the steel is thicker, although there is still more noise in the reviews compared to an open stand. But there is an exit for an SD card. But R5 is more stylish, dust protection is many times better and more convenient. So my choice is the Define R5, but that doesn't mean this case has no competition. If you don't like something, take a look at Cooler Master Silencio.

Pros
  • Stylish, quiet, comfortable, roomy, cable management, reobas+coolers, dustproof, HANGABLE door (HOORAY!)
Cons
  • It would be possible to draw a conclusion for SD cards upstairs, there is a hole for dust penetration on the back wall under the top cooler, there is no soundproofing of the back wall. You can fix it yourself, but why couldn't it be done right away? Expensive. Too much. Although what to do, such is the dollar now.
